Learn the fundamentals of musical theater in a fun group class setting!
With a focus on vocal performance, this class is a fun exploration of musical theater, laying a foundation for growing performers. Please note that if there are any behavioral or focus issues, parents/guardians may be asked to stay in the classroom to assist.
This class is 12 weeks long, and each class runs for 45 minutes.
Required Materials: Water bottle, movement-friendly clothing and shoes
Vocal Technique
with Kaitlyne Colbert
Ages: 6 - 12
Learn the fundamentals of proper vocal technique in a fun group class setting!
Soprano Kaitlyne Colbert will lead teen and adult-age students through proper vocal techniques and concentrate on individual performances to improve voice health and strength. This is a perfect class for folks who want to improve their auditions, go for a solo, try out an open mic, or just improve their singing.
This class is 12 weeks long, and each class runs for one hour.
Required Materials: Water bottle, notebook or recording device. Please have some songs in mind that you want to learn or improve upon.
Fiddle Exploration
with Jonathan Owens
Take your violin skills to the next level with this class. Intended for students with a fundamental knowledge of how to play their instrument, Fiddle Exploration will help students grow more confident in their playing in a supportive group setting. If you have questions about your skill level matching this class, don't hesitate to email us so that we can put you in touch with instructor Jonathan Owens.
This is considered an adult class, but younger students may be admitted with permission from the instructor.

Youth Intermediate Guitar (Ages 8-14)

Kids can take their guitar skills to the next level in a fun group class setting!
Youth students with some guitar experience are welcome. Please note that if there are any behavioral or focus issues, parents/guardians may be asked to stay in the classroom to assist.
This class is 12 weeks long, and each class runs for 45 minutes.
Required Materials: 6 string guitar (if electric, a small amp is also required), recording device, pencil and notebook
Beginner Djembe: Traditional West African Drumming, Djembe
with Steven Townsend
Expand your musical horizons with this introduction to traditional West African drumming rhythms (Djembe). Instructor Steven Townsend teaches traditional rhythms including the history and origin of each rhythm. All traditional rhythms have a meaning or reason to be played. In class, students will practice proper hand/sound technique, discuss the history of the drum (Djembe), and learn proper drum maintenance. All skill levels are welcome. Drums can be provided.
All ages are welcome, but younger students must be accompanied by an adult. This class is great to take as a family as well!
What to bring: Djembe if you have one, but instruments can be provided (email info@reevesmusic.org to inquire), notebook and/or recording device, water.
Prerequisites: None
